SAFETY.NET

(pronounced "safety dot net")

SAFETY.NET is a two-day camp designed primarily for digital rights advocates, journalists, and other civil society members. It intends to equip participants with foundational knowledge of the two inter-related fields of data privacy and digital security, by offering a conducive discussion space for pressing (and emerging) data privacy and digital security issues, as well as the essential tools and best practices necessary to handle those issues. This year, it will be held on 13-14 March 2024.

Upon completing the course, participants should be able to:

  • carry out their respective work while effectively minimizing all attendant privacy and digital security risks

  • relay the lessons they will have acquired from the camp to their peers and other stakeholders

This activity is organized under the Initiative for Media Freedom (IMF), a five-year program implemented by Internews and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with the support of the American
people.
